The project "Rehabilitation and enhancement of the Bathory fortress complex - Code SMIS 302104" was signed between the North-West ADR and the city of Şimleu Silvaniei

The fortress in the center of the city of Şimleul Silvaniei is being reborn with financial support from European funds in the amount of over 7.5 million euros. The ruins of today's fortress will become the tourist attraction that will attract many tourists and will fulfill the dream of the inhabitants to capitalize on the special heritage that they received as a gift from their ancestors. The knights and nobles who lived here influenced the policy and strategy of the great European chancelleries, and Stefan Báthory, born in this fortress, was prince of Transylvania and later one of the most admired and respected kings of Poland.

The project financed by the Northwest Regional Program 2021-2027 will completely transform the city center, it will become a vibrant, attractive place for residents and tourists, and the economy of the locality will register significant progress.

In 3 years, with the completion of this project, Sălaj county will have another special tourist attraction in addition to the Roman fort from Porolissum, one of the best preserved in our country, and the "Iuliu Maniu" Memorial House from Bădăcin.

Congratulations to those who worked and prepared this project, the restoration can begin and we trust that it will be a successful one!
